Grant applications will be reviewed by a Trust Board to designate grants to 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations for projects and programs that are within the scope of the Foundation’s priorities, namely, the enhancement of the quality of life of the residents of the local region within a seventy-five mile radius of Sunbury (the “region”). These priorities further include projects and programs within the region that promote economic development, improvement of health care and medical research, support of the region’s institutions of higher learning and other educational resources such as libraries, support of cultural and artistic programs, and the beautification and rehabilitation of the region.
Grants awarded by the Charles B. Degenstein Foundation typically range from $500 to $5,000 based upon the 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization’s project or program’s importance to the needs of our region. These grants are rarely expected to cover all project or program costs. The Foundation looks favorably on additional support for a project or program from the community and other funding sources.
The Trust Board meets quarterly and proposals should be submitted to the Foundation prior to March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1, respectively, to allow adequate time for review before the meetings.
Please note that applications focused on campaigns, operating budgets, or political activities are strongly discouraged.
